The Ergonomic Self Assessment Tool (ESAT) is a system of parameters designed to provide professionals
working in Palliative Care (PC) – doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, etc. – with a practical means of assessing
the quality of their work/treatment, with a view to optimising the efficiency of the entire team.
The work project that led to the final establishment of the ESAT parameters involved professionals working
in a specific environment, Palliative Care, who contributed in the form of interviews, participation in brain-
storming, and the processing and review of the final results.
The next step was the creation of the application, a tool designed to be simple, efficient, easy to use. By
exploiting the tool’s potential, further assessment charts can be created, with the option of choosing both
the evaluational criteria among those already proposed and the assessment method (0-5 oppure 0-10).
For each chart it is also possible to reference each case treated, the setting in which the treatment was
carried out, and the date (in the automatic update mode, with the possibility of manual control).
Once compiled, the chart can be stored within the application. At any time it can be modified, cancelled,
sent to an e-mail address, and processed with the Excel programme.
Opinions and suggestions are welcome and can be sent to [email protected].
Thanks to all those who have taken part in the study phase.
Thanks for using ESAT. Enjoy using it.
